Vivia Cares Presents Artificial Intelligence Pilot at the a2 Symposium in Boston

Vivia Cares CEO, Dew-Anne Langcaon, and co-investigator Kimia Ghobadi, PhD with Johns Hopkins University presented their project entitled “Enhanced Scheduling for Affordable Neighborhood Caregiving Model” at the poster session of the 3rd Annual a2 National Symposium “Empowering Innovation in Ai/Tech + Aging”.

The event was held at The Harvard Club in Boston, MA on April 3rd and 4th, 2025. The annual a2 National Symposium convenes innovators, academics, and industry leaders to accelerate progress and collaboration in Artificial Intelligence/tech and aging.

Vivia Cares is one of only eight organizations that received funding through this competitive program to develop artificial intelligence technologies aimed at enhancing health and independence of older adults and is the first awardee from Hawaii. The team used the funding to evaluate the underlying data and logic necessary to develop an AI-based Smart Scheduler that will support increasing efficiency of the Vivia neighborhood model.

“We were thrilled to have received this recognition of the importance of the neighborhood model by national experts in aging. Collaborating with Johns Hopkins’ team has taught us a great deal about the challenges of application of AI in healthcare and has allowed us to begin the design for AI-driven solutions to make more affordable and accessible home care for seniors a reality,” said Langcaon.
